Massachusetts Women’s Forum and Boston City Council member Ayanna Pressley made national news this week, unseating 10-term incumbent Rep. Michael Capuano in the Massachusetts Democratic primary on Tuesday. Pressley is expected to be elected to Congress in November since there are no Republican candidates in the race.

MWF President Dana Born to be keynote speaker at IWF WABN 2018 Leadership Roundtable

Massachusetts Women’s Forum President Dana Born will be a featured keynote speaker and part of the IWF WABN 2018 Deedee Corradini Leadership Roundtable in Miami on October 25.

This signature event is named in memory of Deedee Corradini, Past President of IWF, to honor her legacy of championing women’s leadership and women in sport. It also serves as the cornerstone of the EY Women Athletes Business Network (WABN) Mentoring Program (click for more information).

The 2018 class of WABN mentees come from 8 countries and are elite athletes who now work in a diverse range of industries and sectors. The IWF choose Dana, given her multi-faceted background and leadership expertise, to be an inspiration to this new class of mentees.

Gloria Larson to Receive the Ellen M. Zane Award for Visionary Leadership

Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children announced that MWF Member Gloria Cordes Larson, Esq., President of Bentley University, will be honored with this year’s Ellen M. Zane Award for Visionary Leadership for her transformational impact in the Boston region and beyond. Ms. Larson is Bentley’s first female president, a prominent attorney, public policy expert, businesswoman, and mentor. She will be presented the award at the 2018 Working Wonders benefit evening on Wednesday, April 11 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

 

The award is named in honor of Tufts Medical Center CEO Emeritus and fellow MWF member, Ellen M. Zane and is inspired by her impactful presence and tenure while President and CEO from 2004-2011. The award is presented annually at Working Wonders to an individual who exemplifies visionary and transformational leadership. Ms. Larson is the first woman to be honored with the award.

Dr. Sandra Moose has been selected by the National Association of Corporate Directors in New England (NACD-NE) to receive their 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award in Governance on April 30th in Boston.  I feel humbled and honored to be recognized by my peers with this wonderful award.

Jackie Jenkins-Scott Appointed to Posts by Governor Charlie Baker

Government Baker has appointed Jackie Jenkins-Scott to the Special Commission to Design a Nelson Mandela Tribute and to the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy.  Jackie holds more than three decades of experience in higher education and public health and was the first African-American President of Wheelock College.

Also, Jackie will be presenting a lecture “Leading Boldly: Keys to Responsive Leadership in Troubling Times” on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the University of Massachusetts Club sponsored by the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy, University of Massachusetts.
